Cactus and Tender Succulents forum: What kind of succulent/cactus is this???

Friend recently gave me there big succulent/cactus. In order for me to take good care of it I need to figure out what species this is. Someone please help!

It has black/dark purple thorns, and oozes white liquid when damaged.

That is a HUGE Euphorbia trigona and it will get bigger. Smiling
