I have had to severely prune back my opuntia cactus as it has grown into a walk way. Is there anything I should cover the cut marks with to protect the plant In the past I have always tried to prune at a pad joint and just let them heal over naturally.

Pads will heal. Cut pads will sprout several babies.
Anything i say, could be misrepresented, or wrong.

Cactus heal better without anything on the cuts.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
