I love the look of the fruits ("helicopters") on this tree.
If I plant a seed, how long before the tree will be old enough to bear them?

Welcome!

Maples produce seed in about 4 years. But, if you plant a seed, you won't necessarily have a tree that looks like Flame Amur.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
