I am in zone 10 in Florida and get about 2 hours of sun in the morning. I am searching for a shade plant that will provide color and will not be food for rabbits, armadillos, etc! Annuals or perennials would be fine but should not grow too fast (if perennial) and should only be @ 6-8" tall. Can you advise?

Welcome! A lot of great gardeners here to advise and help you along. Do you have a color preference? Do you prefer flowers or foliage for color or both ? Do you prefer low maintenance?

Hi ScoTi,

I don't have a color preference, but would prefer low maintenance. Flowers as opposed to foliage would be preferable but I am open to suggestions. Thank You!

I used to have Wild Petunia (Ruellia humilis) at our old house and I wish I'd taken cuttings because I miss that plant. It has a low growing, trailing to spreading habit and pretty flowers. The stems can be pinched back and even rooted for new plants.
