I tried sprouting several varieties of Arugula. The two Eruca Sativas sprouted well with my standard soak 24 hours, rinse and drain every 8 to 12 hours, place on moistened coir media when roots appear. The Diplotaxis tenuifolia [Arugula Bellezia] did not sprout. After one more day in sprouting jar, I placed it on media anyway and there was finally sporadic sprouting after about 3 weeks.

I would like to know more about the germination and growth habits of Arugula Bellezia.

Thank you!

I have never grown Arugula but they are part of a larger group of cool growing leafy vegetables. Why are you soaking your seed for 24 hours? Why don't you just sow it and wait for it to germinate? Not all seeds take well to being soaked. I'm sure the seeds germinating are the ones that didn't rot during your 24 hour soak.

Thanks for the reply DaisyI. The two larger seeded varieties did great with the soak, but that certainly could be the problem with these tiny ones. I will try just sprinkling them dry onto the damp coir material.
