At the ask a question forum, a lovely little lady posted pics of three very early emerging bulbs, for ids. It's too bad because she probably would already have her answers had she asked at the bulb forum.

How would NGA like us to handle something like this. Do nothing or help out a bit, and in which way is the preference. Not really a pressing issue. Just curious. I almost answered by letting her know about the bulb forum, and thought no, she would make two posts, and that is not great. Then I thought about mentioning her post at the bulb forum, and realized, I should do nothing if I don't feel I know what is kosher. Thanks for the direction in etiquette.

The best approach is to suggest moving the thread using the "Suggest a Change" link at the bottom of the page. Sometimes new members might repost if their thread gets moved, but generally they seem to follow the notifications to its new home.
Plant Authorities: Catalogue of Life (Species) --- International Cultivar Registration Authorities (Cultivars) --- RHS Orchid Register --- RHS Lilium Register

It is in Ask a Question, not on the list. It's fine where it is. She will learn to navigate.
I can treemail a bulb expert who loves to visit.

In the list, you look for the forum you want to move the question/thread to, not the one where it is now. I've several times suggested moves from Ask a Question to another forum using the method Australis described. The only thing is that some new posters don't realize where it's gone when that happens.

New posters get an email when their thread gets a response.

They also get a notification on the homepage since they auto-watch all threads they start.

They are also told to use the "Your Posts" feature to find their posts and to see if there is anything new.

I make a regular scan of the AAQ forum, if it's a question about plant ID, it gets transferred to the Plant ID forum. This was just done with that bulb question thread.

I just realized that I've been chitchatting in AAQ with a new member who asked a question about growing garlic in Texas. It just occurred to me that she should be posting it the Texas Gardening forum. I'm a little nervous about transferring her post. I might try it later. Gotta go meditate in my garden. Then I'll re-read the instructions. Just glad I found them again!

Nothing to be nervous about, you just propose it, it then has to be approved by an admin.
Anyway, I just moved it to the Texas Forum. Thumbs up
