These phals have been growing together for the last five years & repotted once, about 9-10 months ago. One of them has always had these weird brown, dried-out areas on a couple of leaves and now the other is developing them.

I can't find any pics on line of anything similar. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

Its not an insect, Its mechanical damage caused by being bumped, eaten by the cat or...

Thanks, Daisy, that's very interesting - I had no idea orchid leaves were so fragile.

Could something as simple as the edge of leaf resting on the edge of the pot and then the pot getting bumped cause damage like that?

Also, the bite-like wound in the bottom picture began as the kind of small spot you can see in the middle pic and then the damage spread.
