Today was a beautiful, shirtsleeves kind of day in the garden. The first daffodils are blooming. DH helped me by weeding the bed closest to the house. The compromise was he left just a few of the violets that had invaded the bed, and the daffodils will stay. For now. Whistling

I'm loving your pics of spring. I'm looking out at the snow falling and wondering when I can see some of these signs of spring. Hilarious! I know it will get here some day.

When your spring comes, it will be too hot to go outside for us...but of course, we have to plant irises, very early in the morning before the heat comes. I think that I will put mine in pots first, then plant them when it gets a little cooler.

Still having doubts about rainfall - we're under normal amounts, but much better than recent years.
Your spring will come along and we can admire your signs of spring!

This was a post from Kelli, (on the weather in your garden-Daylily forum) I think she used to be active on the Iris forum a few years ago.

Raining here, which is pretty typical for February. We are in a moderate drought still, but making ground.

Thanks for the drought map and Kelli's post, Barbara.

Thank you, Andrea! I have hopes for this spring!

Fingers crossed for more NC rainfall, Les!

Thanks for the acorn, Liz! (we have envy for your tractor!)

Lilli, I was raised in a place where it snows. I still miss it. A little!

We woke up to an inch+ of new snow and cold west winds. We have to wait at least two more months before spring!
For the time being this is what we are looking at. I can't wait to see some "green".

I have not had any snow this year so far, I did have a two week period of very cold weather but no moisture falling.

Today, snowed a little. But yesterday was gorgeous Smiling (in the low 50s). I feel so bad that yesterday I didn't go outside very much. I regret it because today is too cold. Someone used to tell me that February is the coldest month, and I do agree with her, it is very cold in February. I don't know about other places , but Nebraska seems like it is. I'm dreading it. Thumbs down I am happy for some of you people that see signs of spring, and feel bad for the ones that don't. Don't worry, spring is just around the corner. My stepmother always told me that I am very eager to start gardening at this time of year. Because there's nothing really to do yet STILL! And I am very excited about gardening. By the way, Tuesday, February 6th, is my stepmothers birthday, I can't wait! I might give her some money to buy more daylilies. Big Grin She loves 'em! She is also a member on this site too.
Not only people give others signs, but plants do too.

Ian, how wonderful that you share a love of flowers with your stepmother! Lovey dubby Happy birthday to her!

Evelyn - Yes, he does the majority of the weeding, along with occasional teenage help. I AM lucky! A weeded bed is better than diamonds! Thanks!
