I've tried twice to root this plant. Any advice on the correct way to get a clipping?
Much appreciated,
Lori

You might try air-layering or a stem cutting, depending on the size of your plant. Years ago, I started a cutting by just sticking it into well draining potting soil.

You can only propagate a main stem cutting, not a leaf stem cutting. Main stem cuttings usually root readily in water.

Thank you both for your help. I really don't know much about plants. What is air layering and how do I get a main stem cutting.

Can you post a photo that shows the entire plant, including its pot?

It looks like you have two plants in the pot and both are still undeveloped and have not yet produced a substantial enough stem to take a cutting for propagation. Same with air layering.

I think your plant may struggle because the pot is so large and the volume is soil excessive. The water globes are not an effective way to water and may lead to root rot.

I had that plant for many years but it took up so much room! It spread about five feet across. It finally sprouted a baby so I took the baby out and (it was hard) threw the mom away. The plant currently has about three leaves, but the roots have grown out of the pot already. I'm not sure how long I'll keep the little guy.
