There is a line of massive old-growth trees along a road near my house. I stopped today and popped a few of the seed pods, as well as a bit of branch for identification. Anyone know what it is? I live in the south of Spain, near the coast.

Also, what are my chances of germinating these seeds? They look brown and quite healthy.

Thanks!

My eyesight is poor but I wonder if it might be a Cypress (Cupressus species)?
