Ask a Question forum: Please help - squash feels soft like rot at the stem end. What's the cause?

It looks like it's ripening but I don't think so because the skin feels soft just like it water underneath.
I don't know how to describe but if anyone knows why please let me know

My first thought was blossom end rot. The article Sally posted is an excellent one.

Thank you guys and sorry for the late reply.

Strangely though, the rest of the fruits still do well - except the leaves. I've been frustrated with a sort of disease that occurred to these squash leaves for the past 3 weeks (it all came and spread within 1 week - no damage to the fruit though)
if you've been through this before and know what it is - would be much appreciated if you can let me know
