K on this kase stands for kold, its -14C here and a bit nippy so all the more reason to warm ourselves up with some floral alphabet soup. I often run short on Ks but I am sure you soupsters are resplendent. Two this morning, Kerria japonica and Kaslo's Bench, a little garden in memory of a lovely dog.

Ah, kitties...thanks! I am overdue for a pair but am trying to hold off. We are slowly but surely becoming animal-free which frees up travel immensely.

Kittens! Lovey dubby

Interesting plants, everyone. Here is a Kleinia from the public garden with dinky flowers, and a couple of followup pictures showing the aftermath... and an aloe that is no longer an Aloe.

Any chance of choice Kalanchoe flower pics, @purpleinopp ?

Now for Kinnikinnick:

Our Seniors development of Grandview Heights, had a beautiful understory of the native Kinnikinnick or Bearberry, especially under the Ponderosa Pines. This all had to be bulldozed away to install underground wiring and services for our 47 Bungalow and Duplex units. When building my garden from scratch, I remembered those wonderful native plants, and found a supply of young plants bred in Vancouver, B.C. that were perfect for the xeriscape edges of the bank at the back of our place, and also in the dry spot under our eaves, next to the house.

To show the difference between the wild Bearberry and the variety developed at the University of British Columbia (U.B.C.) called Vancouver Jade, I'll show the images side by side, so that you can flip back and forth to see the differences.
On the left, the wild variety has smaller leaves. On the right, you'll see longer leaves and longer reddish stems.
