I planted a papaya tree from seeds in 2016 and by spring/fall 2017, there were green papayas. But then came the freeze for several days in the 30's and high 20's. Of course, all the fruits turn black and dropped. So hoping for delicious papayas... Sighing!

I guess it's time to chop it down.

Betsy ! Hi, were in same zone. My old neighbor use to grow one.
He'd protect it from frost over winter. All it would produce is small, seedy fruit, with no taste.
Personally ! I'd chop it ! To many good things to grow. 😀😀😀👍
