A friend in NC sent me some Hyacinth bean seeds......do I need to start them indoors, or can I plant directly into soil in May?

@RobinD I am so unfamiliar with that plant. I looked it up.

Seeds can be sown directly outdoors once the threat of frost has passed. Seeds can also be started indoors several weeks before the weather warms. Transplants are best when planted on the small side.

Once planted, these low maintenance plants require very little care. Provide regular water for transplants and seedlings for best results.

They are best planted in full sun and require a sturdy support that is at least 10 to 15 feet high. Many gardeners grow this lovely vine on a sturdy trellis, fence or arbor.

Thanks, Jim....I want to hide 2 guide wires from the 2 telephone poles in front of my house....they are unsightly in my perennial bed, and am hoping foliage will be more pleasing to the eye.....sounds like I will pop them directly into the soil when it warms up....if it ever does!
