I'm expecting that Aldi will have the plant stands shown above on sale some time before the swap. There are two types, straight and quarter-round. Each stand is 3 levels and requires assembly. (The decorative scroll work doesn't need to be attached.)

Over the past few years, the stands have been $20 each. Each time, they sold out rather quickly. When I see them going on sale, I will post a note in this thread. At that time, if you want any, you will need to let me know quickly. I'll do my best to get enough for those that want them.

Rick do you know how high and deep the shelves are? I am very interested if they are big enough. Thanks

Straight section: 24" tall x 27" long x 25" deep
1/4 Round Section: 24" tall x 25" long x 25" deep

They 'fit' together. I have a pair just below the carport that was covered with Christmas cactus during the swap.

Once they post the ad with the shelves in it, I'll let everyone know.

Coming Wednesday, 07-Mar-18...

Thumb of 2018-03-06/RickM/038758
- 27.36" x 20.08" x 62.9"
- Heavy-duty reinforced cover with steel frame
- Holds up to 22 lb. per shelf
- No tools required for assembly
- Two sturdy zippers for easy access
- Includes 4 ground stakes for additional stability
- 2-year warranty
- $19.99

I currently have 6 if these puppies set up and will be getting more. Each shelf holds 2 standard flats, so the whole thing can hold up to 8 flats. They work great, whether you use them for temp storage (like hosta looking for a home Whistling ) to growing things out. The covers keep the critters out nicely.

My guess is that the shelves will be in in a couple of weeks.

Rick, as the weather warms do you put the covers up in front during the day and down at night?

If I remember, yes. It depends on how cool the forecast is for night temps. If it stays above 60, I usually leave them up.

Thx. That's about what I do... but I worry about forgetting to put them up some morning and broiling everything inside. I should find a place where they're not in full sun. (I have one or two of those little 2-shelf units also)

I just got back from Aldi. They have the corner section of this plant stand. I didn't see the straight section. I'm a bit annoyed since it wasn't in the ad for this week or next.

If anyone wants me to pick one up, let me know ASAP. They onlyhad 4 of them.

Caveat Emptor—the Gardenline "Natural Defense Owl" at Aldi defends absolutely nothing in the garden. Lost a whole lotta koi to raccoons. Stupid plastic owl still "defending" pond side.

Those plastic owls don't fool any of the critters. They may pause and watch, but when there is no movement, they just go about their business pillaging the gardens.

The Aldi's off 40 in Frederick had both straight and round sections yesterday. They've done well for me... thought about picking up a couple of straight ones for the side patio where I organize new plants... but I'm holding out for the greenhouse shelving that Terri found there a couple years ago!

I did buy out their supply of small obelisks, $10 per set. They come in a pair, 3 & 4 ft. tall, or maybe a little shorter. They'll fit in a pot and have been sturdy for me, although I might have sprayed mine with clear polyurethane or rustoleum to protect the finish. Aspenhill and I have first dibs, and I'll put any extra sets on my swap list (for $, the same way I do Sharpie markers or any other sweet deals).

Hey -- quick offer here -- finishing up a cart at Collections Etc. with free shipping... anybody want a pair of plant pulleys for $8 or a set of 6 plant hanger/ hooks for $12. I like their hooks 'cause one end is larger than usual, good for hanging from a tree limb.
