I can only grow Amaryllis as houseplants and I'm thrilled that, after several years of nothing, my Pink Diamond bulb has bloomed. I also collected some iris from our church cemetary; two variations of a sort of beige-yellow with grayish purple markings. Unfortunately, the more striking of the two did not come back after one year in the garden and I can't find it at the cemetary anymore either (new maintenance crew; they mow down everything).
The end is nothing, the journey is all.
