Thank you, Everyone! I believe I got the seeds for that one in 2016 from Ladylovingdove (Dot). I believe they were an LA win. In fact, I am sure of it!
It is so nice to see a bloom. I have had the worst luck with daylilies the past 6 months. From Hurricane Irma and just recently the squirrels (<--- I think that is which critter is doing it) digging up my smaller daylilies and chewing up the leaves and rootball. So weird because in all the years I have been growing daylilies, I've never, ever had that problem until recently. So on top of all the daylilies I lost to the hurricane, I have since lost even more due to squirrels. (I do feed the squirrels and birds, too! So not sure why they are doing that. I have bird baths that all of them can reach as well, for drinking water.) No clue as to why any of the wildlife would do that.
The seedling featured above is in a container with other seedlings. Squirrels will dig around in the potting mix, but never actually pull up/dig up the daylilies and eat the roots. So hopefully they will leave the rest of my daylilies alone. I have even more seedlings to plant into containers, as well as lots of seedlings that have yet to bloom for the first time. I have not seen anymore buds on any other daylilies yet.
Here it is March 2. Pretty early for blooms, but we had winter a month early this year, so February was not a cold month like it typically is. January was the cold month. Climate change for sure!
