Hello everyone,

I am happy to find this site and look forward to learning lots here

My question is this: Today I applied fertilizer for the first time this spring...My plants all got killed off by a week long freeze down here, and when I saw that my plants were starting to sprout again from the ground I thought it would be good to give them a boost.

I applied Miracle Gro, which I have used before, but I was mixing it almost double strength until I realised it...I mixed it up in batches in a bucket...I applied it on plants that are all in the ground, not in pots

My question is did I damage my plants? Will they be ok? I hate to think I have set them back or worse....I used it on shell gingers and the ferns

Oops! The good news is that Miracle gro is milder than some, the bad news is that you used it at all.

Fertilizer is for happy plants. When you fertilize a plant already in distress, it may just push it right over the edge. And then you doubled it!! Grumbling We always recommend that you use fertilizer (any fertilizer) at half strength or less.

But the deed is done... Sighing! The best you can do at this point is water. Try to flush it out before the plants have a chance to absorb an overdose.

Keep us posted.

Thank you for the reply Daisy

Oh nooo...I cannot believe I did that...I don't know how I forgot the right ratio...seems like the only good news here is finding out that Miracle Gro is milder than others, I'm glad at least I used that one

I am going to do a good watering tomorrow morning and hope that it will disperse the quantity
