I recently bought a young monstera deliciosa and I'm not sure where it should go to get the most sunlight it needs without being too much. I have it on the left corner of my room desk in front of a north-east facing window. The right corner gets quite a bit less sunlight than the left, and I'm afraid of the leaves being burned by my lamp once it gets fuller. Is it too close to the window, and if I move it will it be too far? I'm terrified of killing the thing.

The problem with that location is that it is tucked under a shelf preventing it from getting any light from above. It is also getting light from only one side. It needs to be in a more open location.

Thank you. The main reason it's in my room with the one window is to keep it away from the cats, since the plant is toxic. Is there any recommendation for which facing window is best?

Right on a north windowsill would be best. Back a foot or so from an east or west window or off to the side of a south window. The important thing is that it gets light from above as well as from the side. Rotate the plant a quarter turn when you water so that all sides get equal amounts of light.
