Hirt's garden has a really good selection of hydrangeas for a good price.

Many are Proven Winners.

Wow, they have a good supply! It includes some of the new Invincibelles and the Let's Dance Series has some great compact selections. The only problem I found is some level of recent negative complaints towards this company )i was looking at its record in Dave's Garden Watchdog... plus, about half of the comments were positive and half were negative). Not bad but not good either. ;o( Yet, good to know as they have a good selection. Thanks!

I was wondering how much these new Invincibelles were going to be sold for. Mind if I ask you how much were they going for at Hirt? Since they are new, I assume they will be expensive. I remember when Endless Summer came out and it was selling for $40 (at least). Ha! I waited several years before buying one for $30.

Invincibelle® Mini Mauvette 'NCHA7' was $10, these are quart potted plants, they are small.

let's dance starlight was $12, but all of the rest were $10 except little lamb was $8

I have had good experience with Hirt's, no problems whatsoever.

I bought 3 different Lilium martagon from them in 2014, great. These lilies were not generally available elsewhere.

and I bought 2 varieties of abelia in 2017, good price, good plants.

I have not tried those 4" pots before. How have they worked for you? Any do's and dont's that you want to share?

THe 4" pots work fine, but they are really young plants. Sometimes I buy them in the spring, pot them in gallon pots in the greenhouse and plant them in the fall.

The advantage is that you have a much larger selection via mail than at your local nursery.

but using mail is a tradeoff in size of plant, 2-3 gallon plants cost more to ship than the plant is worth.

last fall i bought a couple of endless summer hydrangeas (blushing bride & bloom struck) from lowes at $8 each. They were 3 gallon pots. These were $32 in the spring. I expect they will bloom this year:)

4' pots that I planted last spring will probably not bloom this year.

FYI: Ordered a Lil Honey too. Discovered that you can order it using walmart.com but Wally World just "passes" the order on to Hirt's, who then mails the shrub. So I ordered directly from Hirt's instead.
