I added a nice photo of Aconitum episcopale to my user plant list, and think it would be a valuable
addition to the as-yet-photoless database entry, but was unable to discover how to do so. I even
attempted the roundabout method of copying the photo to somewhere on my drive and re-loading
it back up to the database, but was only able to obtain the small thumbnails that way.

It would be much appreciated if someone could explain how to do this or, if it requires special forum privileges,
could perform the magic themselves.

And all you plants in your list, rather than hand entering them, you can find them in the database and add the entry directly to your list by clicking the blue button on the left side "Add this plant to your list'. It automatically adds the clickable entry to your list. See mine as an example.

I'm thinking that you will need your original photo source/image i.e. the full-size photo and then ...

Go to the Plants Database entry and select from the Adding Actions on left hand side column.

First one up is Upload a photo.

Good luck, if you hit a snag just leave another message here. Smiling

If you are adding a photo, make sure it's your photo, not one from somewhere online, unless you have expressed permission to do so and add credit in the caption

Do what? Add plants to your list from the entry? Your list has all linked entries so I don't understand. Confused

Never mind. I was mistakenly thinking of adding pics from the database to my plant entries where I haven't taken photos yet. I looked, and that doesn't seem possible.

If you have one or more of your photos in the database entry, the first one added will show as a thumbnail in your list. If you don't have your own photos, the first photo in the entry will appear in your list. If no photo appears, that means no one has added a photo yet.

Thanks for that. I wondered why some of mine didn't have photos at all.

Thanks for the replies. I thought there might be a simple way to reference the photo for addition to the database, given that
the photo already exists on the site, but apparently not. I had to open the full-size photo from my plant list, copy the second part of the
url-within-a-url that is shown when you click the little disk stack icon at the bottom, instruct my browser to save
that url as a file in my local Downloads folder, go back to the Plants Database page, and then go through the "upload
a photo" procedure.

I do not directly link the entries in my plant list to the corresponding database items, because then I lose control of how the
plants are named/listed.

Maybe I am missing something. Didn't we used to have the option to suggest that a photo be imported to the database? Does that still work? If the answer is yes, then all @kreemoweet (love that name!) would have to do is put the photo into a thread anywhere...like maybe here in this thread, then click to suggest it be added to the database. The suggestion would be moderated and if it passes muster it will become part of the database.

Actually, in your list, enlarge the photo, click on that blue "little disk stack icon", it opens a new page " "Proposing the association of a photo to a plant"
It now asks:
Which plant does this image belong to?

Fill that out, submit and it goes into an admin queue for approval.

Again, make sure this is your personal image.

Ahh, yes! The old "propose the association" trick! Worked like a charm. Thank you all.
