I just checked the Old Farmer's Almanac--they indicate that the weather takes a turn for the better at the end of next week. Weather Channel extended forecast shows that by Tax Day, the daytime highs are consistently in the middle 60s and the lows are in the middle 40s.

Anyone else have good information on the season change? I want to start some radishes on the deck. I read about making your own seed tapes with toilet paper, flour and water glue/paste, and tried it, of course. I want to see if it will work.

On the super-fantastic-plus side, I have three inch tall pepper seedlings. I have tomato seedlings that seem strong and sturdy, and now have all the eggplants I started. Thumbs up

March has been cool, so far. But this sun must be warming the soil, because things seem on track. my Forsythia will all bloom soon. Lots of Daffodil leaves are up.
i'm usually late, it seems like, on radishes. I don't get good ones very often. They say they need good fertility to grow fast. Maybe some are a day length problem too-
I think radishes are able to sprout in cool soil, so I would plant sooner rather than later, and just wait.

I started my jalapenos early and they look good so far. My tomatoes just emerged on Thursday, yet this is still early to me. Rita is my tomato goddess and she said she starts them early in March and plants by end of April, I think.

as far as predicting out past a week or so.. Shrug!

After being at the Philadelphia Flower show with Jill last week, I was so inspired to get home and start the spring cleanup of my gardens. Got hit smack in the face with reality because it is still too cold for me to want to be outside yardening. Come on milder temps!!!

I'm a wimp LOL. It was in the 40s, but I want it to be in the high 50s and 60s before I get out there for any length of time. Bonnie was outside all weekend though chipping up tree tops from the clearing we did at her house site in the fall. I think you both are troopers because you guys are much more inclined to be outside when the temps are cold. Even if it is sunny, brrrrrrrrrr for wimpy me.

I'm a 'wind wimp' Terri! But when it's still, I don't notice cold as much. And with greenery popping up, new beds to assemble, sunshine, and limited time to do it -some of us are still working FT, lol- I just couldn't resist putting on a warm coat, old fleece gloves, and getting down and dirty.

Wind is definitely worse than low temperatures. Grumbling

Last weekend was nice though. I went out to prune cherry blossom trees. They were so overgrown Sad . Tony was busy with something else, so I only cut very small branches. I used blue tapes to mark the thick branches for him to cut later. Green Grin!

I started some foxglove seeds a couple of weeks ago. They are supposed to be blooming in the first year, so I thought I would start them early. I left them over the AC vent, thinking the bottom heat would help them to germinate. As it turned out, they germinated too fast. I started them on Sunday, and they had already germinated by the time I got home on the following Friday. The seedlings had not been growing in much light. All wasted Grumbling . Need to do it again.

Yeah--north of the Mason-Dixon is still pretty wintery. Last week, we had wind and no snow, while a friend a few hours North got a foot and a half. It looks like this storm coming will miss us completely.

I spent a lot of time out yesterday puttering on the deck and the yard--and got a little too cold. I get access to the garden patch on Thursday. Saint Patrick's Day is supposed to be very nice :)

This is only the second day this week we've gotten up to 40. Still wet ground, down right soggy in places, that's all the wind is good for to dry us out a bit. High 30s and wind is not for me. After I water the GH, I may try working on a project in the barn. Smiling we need an emoji that shivers and has icicle ear rings. Hilarious!

Lisa and Robin, I am envious that you are enjoying sunny warm weather. I don't think I've ever been this cold all the time, even in the house, as I have been this winter. I actually have mentioned to Mike that I want to jump on a plane and go south, something that I never thought would be on my mind - I am definitely not a traveler Hilarious! Anyway, I take hot baths, huddle under blankets, wear double layers of socks, often wear gloves while sitting at the computer, and have the space heater on wherever I am more this winter than ever before and my hands and feet still stay cold. Is this a sign of aging???

It's 42 degrees at 8 am here in Fort Pierce and I'm still in bed, cold. I should get up and go for a walk but am waiting for it to get warmer. Got sunburned a little yesterday

I was tempted to get out with my new racheting loppers over the weekend, but looked at the forecast and decided I didn't want to make big cuts just before freezing weather returned. At least that's my excuse for just walking around!

Yep, they just sent out notice that school is dismissed 2 hours early. From the sleet that was falling when we woke up, I think it would have been the better choice to cancel today... but since tomorrow will almost certainly be a snow day, I think they were trying not to use up all 5 snow days built into the school calendar (2 snow days and 1 no-power closing so far this year).
