|Hello, I live in southern Brazil and have been caring for raspberry plants since two years ago. But this is my first year caring for Heritage raspberry plants, and I am quite confused...
They have sprouted from the ground in mid-November (it correlates to the northern hemisphere May) and about 10 canes are flowering right now, but some canes are not producing yet. I want to know if it is common for them to be a bit irregular, because it seems a bit strange to me. I have got another raspberry variety (which they have sold me as Heritage as well) but they do not grow as tall the real Heritage ones I've planted now, although they are far more regular when it comes to flowering and bearing.I don't think it has something to do with some "lack of chill" since Heritage raspberries are really low-chill and they actually follow a really interesting dormancy pattern here, there are even already some red leaves and dormant buds in a bunch of canes, and one of the canes is bearing a lot of berries, and the ones flowering right now are full of flowers. They are FAR more productive than the first variety I've had. So I don't know if it is actually normal and common for them to be irregularly flowering or if it is somehow okay.
Also, I would like to ask why some berrires are irregularly colouring, they mature irregularly. Some drupelets are darker than others. I will try to post a photo within this question.
Thanks so much!
