Which holes do you mean, Philip? I see two different types, one looks like maybe animal chewing and the other looks like smaller holes, like wireworm damage:

Wireworms, as I kind of suspected.
Ive asked a few nurseries for soil treatment, they look at me like I'm crazy. They know NOTHING, of vegetables.
Years ago, my dad told me of a treatment for soil, I can't remember what.
I was hoping a member hear might know what to treat soil with.

The big surface, crater like holes, are from slugs 😮!!! I didn't know that slugs could live, underground. Grumbling
