I started my seeds about a month a go inside with plant lights with organic seed starter soil they were really healthy growing good doing great nice and green then a couple days ago I started noticing the very first leaves started turning yellow and getting crispy on the ends then today I noticed the first true leaves have yellow spots on them does anybody know what my problem could be?

It could be under or over watering.
Your pots do have drain holes, so excess water can drain away, I hope.
Don't let them sit in drained water.
Doesent appear your watering them well. Water them till water drains out. Then let top inch of soil dry before watering again.
Move your lite as close to plants as you can, without burning them.
I think you'll be alright.πŸ‘

Jessica, the first leaves (little rounded ones called cotyledons) will always shrivel up and die. That is normal.

But the second leaves should be green and healthy. Have you given the plants any more plant food than what is in the organic soil?At this point (and for a while longer since you can't really put them outside for at least a few weeks) they need some weak soluble fertilizer. They've probably used up all the nutrients available to them.

Also, they need as much strong light as you can possibly give them, so if you can put them near a window that gets some sun, that will help with the color as well. As Philip says, your plant light also needs to be within a few inches of the leaves. 12 to 14 hours of good light per day is not too much for indoor seedlings.

As far as the spots go, I'm not seeing any bugs in your pictures, but check the backs of the leaves carefully with a magnifying glass for spider mites or aphids. Both can just be rinsed off with a gentle spray from your kitchen sink sprayer if they are there. That's the most common source for spots like that on leaves. Rinse a few times in the next week or so if you do find bugs. One shot doesn't usually take care of all the bugs because there will be eggs present after the adults are washed off and they will hatch into a whole new problem if you don't repeat rinsing.

Good addition to my answer Elaine πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜€.
Only difference is, I've read, and I do run my lites for 16 hours a day.

Yes the cups have holes in them and I do give them 16 hours of light a day I will move the light closer and water them more and also start my plant food I gave them magnesium but no plant food so I will do that the top leaves are really green except the ones that have some spots so I will rinse them thank you guys for the help hope they turn around and also should I use like half a dose of the Miracle Grow plant food or use what the package recommends and can I also use it on my tomato seedlings there are about 4 to 6 in tall

Jessica, To review. πŸ˜€
One quarter strength fertilizer water.

Water them throually.

Let top inch of soil dry, you don't want any fungus gnats.

I don't know type, or how hot your lites are. So, put your hand under lites, at seedling level, to feel how warm. Then, slowly move hand up, towards lites, to feel how hot bulb temperature is at lite level.
You'll probably only want to move your lites part way closer, every couple days.
So bulbs don't burn seedlings.

ERR, on the side of caution.πŸ‘

Ok thank you so much I made the water very light with fertilizer they are plant bulbs and every year they seem to work great this is the first time I've got this issue this soon but they always seem to do this once I get them in the ground and they've produced quite a bit of cucumbers then they seem to do the same dying off turning yellow with yellow spots so hopefully the fertilizer and watering thing will work out once I get them planted in the ground too thanks for all your help

Could the same thing be happening to my tomato plants to or do you think maybe it's a bug parasite Maybe and it seems to be that I'm getting holes in all my cucumber leaves I do notice some look like regular gnats or house flies but that's the only thing I can find?

Pale leaves mean not enough nutrients but might also be constricted roots. You started your seeds too soon and the roots need space and fertilizer. I would suggest a transplant to larger pots and some liquid fertilizer heavy on the P-K side. I might even give the leaves a foliar spray.

I figured I started them a little bit too soon when it started getting warm I think I called spring fever and then it went cold again so I'll transplant them and then see what they do thanks also they do look a lot better since I gave them Miracle Gro plant food

I read somewhere a while back, that a lack of magnesium can cause leaves to turn yellow. Seaweed fertilizer is good for the nutrient, also Epsom salt too, tomato fertilizer also!

Yes I use seaweed extract and fish fertilizer so my question would be could I use the fish fertilizer or seaweed extract and epsom salt at one time and then a week later do the Miracle Grow and keep off setting them by 1 week or is that too much for them? My next question for the foliar spray can I use any of them because I see there's so many different kinds which one do you think is the best?

Hi Jessica πŸ‘πŸ˜€
Like you, I got spring fever to early. Now, vege plants are still waiting on the weather to warm up.

Did you get your lites moved closer to plants ?

Don't overdose your your plants with everything your giving them. It's all good ! But, to much can cause problems.

Now, what kind of foliar spray are you asking about, insectaside, fertilizer, or supplement ?

I'm, a no-go person with Miracle Grow. It's junk in my book.
I prefer good O'l fashion manure.
You want a fertilizer with a rating of say : 5-10-15 , see the second and third numbers are double and triple, the first number. Also one that has micro- nutriments. Find what you can. You want the second and third numbers, to be at least double and triple higher, than the first number. Wether first number is 5, 8, 10, etc.

I would then stop all the other fertilizers.

I would still supplement with epsom salts. As lable directs. It's good for all niteshade family, bigger, better fruit. Nite shades are any vege that has blooms with 5 petals. It's also good for bigger, better, roses.

Okay first question can it be horse or cow manure or just cow manure? Second question if I started using manure instead of fertilizer you would put it when you plant and then would you put it every two weeks like you would the Miracle Gro plant food or just that once when you plant? So I wouldn't use any plant food anymore just the manure and epsom salt? I'm sorry for all the questions but I appreciate your help I'm really trying to be a good gardener I grew up with my grandmother teaching me and she's passed now and it makes me feel close with her but I was young and I really don't remember everything I want to have a really good Garden this year and to make sure I understand if I switch to manure and epsom salt I would not use fish fertilizer or seaweed extract ?thanks for your help.wonel Smiling
