This Saturday, March 17, is Seedy Saturday in Calgary. If you live close, put your green on, and come for plants and seeds. You can also take in several talks by local experts. Hilhurst/ Sunnyside Community Hall. Admission $2. |

Geez that seems like a great way to spend a day (and catchy title too). If I wasn't living across the country I would make a point of going. There is nothing quite like getting together with other local gardeners to learn and share. Alas I will be most likely home here in Northern Minnesota participating in our own traditional bit of March Madness...ye old annual half frozen Doggie Doo Cleanup Day. Is it any wonder that I consider March the worst month of the year in Minnesota? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You would enjoy a Seedy Saturday. There are also Seedy Sundays in some communities. |

Sorry I missed it. I wasn't far away, just biking along the Memorial side of the river. |

I had to miss it too because I have been down with flu this weekend. I was going to sell some of my plants and seeds. |

You should have gone over as they had bike racks brought over by one of the Bike shops. Parking is limited there and they were encouraging people to bike or take the bus or C train. |

Hello Caroline, I would have but I didn't catch your post until later at night. I heard nothing about it from elsewhere, well perhaps I wasn't paying close attention when skimming through cbc, ctv Calgary and global on the internet. Maybe they will have something in my area, Winston/Mountview. We do have quite a nice community garden going. |

Glenbrook has a community garden too. I used to participate, but now my participation is in the form of donating plants when I have excess for my own yard. Seedy Saturdays and Seedy Sundays are under the Seeds of Diversity, Canada organization. Yesterday was probably Seedy Sunday in Edmonton. Go to seeds.ca to learn all about it. Calgary Hort. used to hold seed swaps and trades---but I have not seen any lately. |
