A friend brought us this nice plant. She didn't remember the name though. She said it is not to be watered too much but that's pretty much all we know about it.
I agree, a beautiful Florist's Gloxinia (Sinningia speciosa) I used to see them for sale here regularly but for some reason they haven't appeared at garden centers in a long time.

I have not seen them either Lin. Am I remembering correctly that this plant hates water on the leaves, and it prefers a slightly cooler temp indoors of around 65?
Laurie, yes the leaves are soft and pubescent like a few other Gesneriads (African Violets, Episcia, Streptocarpus) and do not like water on their leaves.
