at local supermarket yesterday; so pretty. Label on wrap said "carnation" but certainly not as I know them. Can it be? Or is it a definite incorrect-label item?

Wow, not a form I would ever expect to see in a Dianthus/Carnation! From what I can see in the photograph, the stems and foliage are definitely Dianthus. Smiling

Nifty links, Danita. Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.

well done Danita. Star is apparently it (second link), but I'm trying to interpret ... it is a Dianthus/Carnation registered as Star right? Thank You! for your help; much appreciated.

@Zuzu - can this be added somewhere on data-base? Where would you suggest, if at all?

Unless a cultivar name is found, the photo can only be added to the generic Dianthus entry.

Isn't the name, 'Star Cherry Tessino', the cultivar name? It looks like a match.

It does look like a match, but I'd rather depend on something other than its looks. We don't even know whether the Star series is sold in Australia. There could be a similar plant with a different name there.
