Thought i'd repost a mystery plant that our gardeners (who mostly speak Cantonese) gave me. I thought it might be Woolfberry, that trendy Lycium: Goji; but no it's not. Am hoping one of the experts can identify it for me. John F.

It sure looks like a Goji Berry. What do the flowers look like?

You received an answer when you posted the first time, here:

Why is it that you think it is not a Goji plant?

It sure does, doesn't it. But the Chinese ladies said no when I showed them the Chinese character along with an illustration. The berries seem perhaps a bit rounder than gojis and the leaves a bit broader from what I see online. Wondering if it's a related plant?
Haven't seen any flowers but will look for them this season.
in any case, many thanks

There are two species of Goji berry: Lycium barbarum or Lycium chinense. L barbarum has wider leaves than L. chinense.

Chances are the ladies are not understanding the version of written Chinese you found. I did a search on traditional and simplified Chinese and came up with 3 versions.
