Well that would be discouraging Mark.
Thankfully Mountain Crest knows how to take excellent care of plants. Big Grin

They can't do orders the way you want Mark. They do thousands of orders a day and it would be a nightmare to hold plants until others are ready.

Of the 6 semp businesses I ordered from this year, they take early orders, in the date order received. In this MCG order, the 7th of my orders, it doesn't seem possible to order the same way. They receive "Thousands of orders per day", that's utterly remarkable! Not satisfied they can't accept orders as other businesses do. I don't want to have 5 separate orders from MCG when each individual plant become physically ready to ship, they should have a mechanism to fulfill orders in the sequence they arrive.

So, should I order the 6 Mountain Crest semps now, then order 6 more when they're ready, pay a premium for shipping separately, then do that 3 more times, to get a total 26 varieties finally shipped, at multiple handling and shipping costs; doesn't make sense. Really?

I will Contact MCG to see if I can place an order and spend my money in a way they can receive it.

Update: MCG has an FAQ that states:
"Advance orders / delay shipment: You can order up to 6 months early. Provide delivery date in the comments box during checkout."

The problem with that advice, it's not possible to add plants to the order unless they are currently ready.
I sent off an inquiry via their "contact us" page.

Hi Mefforde,
If you ever get to the west coast you should contact them and go visit their growing operation. It is very interesting and fun.

The last time I was there it was Feb and most of the inventory was indoors, protected from the waning winter weather. Well, things are looking different now and what a sight it was to our eyes and camera lenses.

The heart of MCG is its sales staff, nurserypeople and plant inventory. All entities move/rotate year round in their jobs depending on what season it is.

This particular green house space is for filling the orders that come in for all types of succulent. Trays and trays of plants are lined up ready to be plucked from to complete orders.

This is area where people fill the orders for plants whether they are ordered singly, variety pack, by the trays, or in different pot sizes.

Oh wow!!!
Bev I am so excited to see that they have been working on the rock garden. It is wonderful. What fun you must have had, they are such fun and knowledgeable people to work with.

Edited because you added more photos. Be still my heart. I remember those green houses from last Feb. They are massive, each filled with delightful treasures.

It looks like a fantastic place to visit! It's hard to imagine that many semps and other succulents all in one place. Thanks for taking and posting the photos, Bev!

I managed to pick out a Topsy Turvy from that Echy tray!

Love the rock garden. Maybe I can do one on a small scale. Looks like small amounts of many different plants to make it look almost like a kaleidoscope. Hmmm.... perhaps on my next table garden. I must start putting some thought into it!
