Pair the price with a weak winter moment, the ITOH was going to win. And this thread is to blame too Hilarious! When in doubt, always place blame elsewhere. Whistling

Congrats on everyone's buys! I have tried to stay away from this thread as I know I will give in to temptation and order some. NOw that danger is past as they are sold out, I just want to say that i am as excited as you are about your purchases. Hope the roots will do well for everyone and that they will be all true to name. Looking forward to see everyone's pics of blooms in a few years.

Have you seen your Scrum from last fall come up yet, Karen? Mine hasn't emerged. Not alone in that as a lot of the Itohs come up a bit later but I'm ready to see signs of life!

I know you were asking Karen, Liz, but here are pictures of my Scrump from Solaris last Fall. Rolling on the floor laughing

No buds, but doing fine. Since it had no buds, it rarely got covered through the frosts and freezes, and has no damage! Hurray!

Liz, the Scrum root that you sent me is growing nicely. There are 2 big stems and 2 small stems though they are still short. I think it maybe a peony that is late in waking up. I will take an updated pic and will post later today.

Do you find that your Scrum late in putting up growth, LG? THank you so much for posting your Scrum plant. The foliage is so pretty! I love that light green color.

My Scrum came up with the other Itohs in that bed. Maybe yours is in a cold spot? I have one Peony that has never done well, and I planted a vigorous Itoh next to it, and they both show frost damage this year. I will dig them out in the Fall and put a companion plant in that spot since it seems to be a cold sink. It is only slightly lower there but it seems to be enough to harm the peonies .

Here is my Scrum taken today. Not expecting buds this year but hopefully next year given its robust growth. This root did not come from Tulip World, but from a real nice and generous friend on here. Smiling

You might see a bud Karen. I can tell you they love the south as far as growth.

Glad to see growth, Karen and LG! It always makes me nervous when a new peony is late emerging, mine finally has a visible eye above ground bow! YEAH!

I ordered Scrum from Tulip World again this year, I am pretty sure the one from last year won't show up this spring. I did not contact Tulip World for refund last year but this time I will if it looses leaves after 1-2 months again.

How did your Scums do last season? I heard this peony is not a must-have, guess not very consistent bloomer but maybe in the south it performs better than in the north. Shrug!

I am really interested to see everyone's Scrum from Tulip World blooms this year if any! I did not get it last year because Liz was generous enough to share me a division from her plant. I hope that I will get a bloom from it this spring.

I potted mine in the greenhouse and then in the garden in August. The root system did not look good and I do not expect it to be alive come spring.

Both of mine were alive going into the Fall. I will certainly post their status this Spring. Hopefully they will be alive and show leaves.

I do have a nice one I bought from Solaris, and hope it will bloom this Spring.

Well I checked on them today; it is a beautiful sunny day here.
Both of them have sprouted.
As the roots were so small, I planted them in pots with the bottoms cut off. This help protect them from moles and voles. You leave the lip of the pot above ground.

Here are the photos I just took

Well Southern Peony posted on Facebook today that she thought her Scrum from TW was herbaceous.

Here is the foliage on my two. What do you think? I do have one from Solaris to compare to, but it's in another location and I'm waiting for it to leaf out.

I also saw that post. It looks like herbaceous to me. Do you have photos from last year to compare?

The Dutch market doesn't think we know the difference between an ITOH and a herbaceous peony. Or that by the time it ever blooms, the average Joe won't even recall what they ordered or wanted.

So sorry to hear that Scrump at Tulip World is not the real thing. I had the same experience with Springhill's Kirinmaru so I know how frustrating you all feel. Maybe there are some right ones in the lot that you all bought. If not, I hope that at least these herbaceous roots will bloom something unique and wonderful. Eventhough Springhill did not send me the right Kirinmaru, my mislabel turns out to be a gorgeous double pink peony.

Well, I bought both the Scrump from TW and the Kirinmaru from Springhill. I was very aware that Springhill is not trustworthy. At the price, if i just get something i don't already have, i will be disappointed, but can accept it.
