Difficult for me to say. A few closeups of the leaves might help. But I wouldn't be too surprised if someone can't ID it from that picture.

I think that I see large buds on several branch tips on closer inspection. Rhododendron of some kind?

My first thought was also Rhododendrons (Rhododendron) One for comparison:

Magnolias have big fuzzy flower buds. Rhododendrons flower buds are glabrous (not fuzzy).
It's a type of rhododendron.
