I stumbled upon this specimen and I'm wondering what it is. My father noticed it for the first time when walking around the city of Natal.

I'm sure it's nothing special but it would be nice to know, especially when it comes about this weird shell around the fruit.

Its a type of Passionfruit (Passiflora).
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost

Thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for but didn't suspect.
