I recently acquired a pretty beat up dieffenbachia when a neighbor moved. The stalk was smooth/naked when I got him. He's starting to grow new leaves from 2 old nodes that suddenly turned green and started growing. Is this normal? Are these going to be new stalks? I've never seen one do this before. I was about to cut him down and propagate some new plants but now I'm curious.
