Thread OP
NSW, Australia
Hi all,

Any idea what plant this leaf belongs to?

It has a milky sap and came from a young tree/shrub about 4ft tall.

The mature leaves are more characteristically lobed.

Welcome to the forums swicked.
To id a tree/shrub from a single leaf is hard and may lead to inaccurate id.

Please can you add extra pics to this thread to show the whole plant, a branch to show if leaves are opposite or alternate. A pic to show the mature lobed leaves.
Any other clues...flower/fallen seed pods under the plant?

It could be Triadica sebifera (Sapium sebiferum)

It could be Chinese Tallow Tree (Triadica sebifera) and it is apparently found in Australia: https://keyserver.lucidcentral... but it could be so many other things as well. I agree, more photos needed to suggest an exact ID.

I don't think T. sabifera leaves develop lobes. They are all a single shape.

I don't see any lobes either but the post says, "The mature leaves are more characteristically lobed."

Thumbs up It does resemble a Euphorbia leaf.

How about P. heterophylla which is found in Australia? https://keyserver.lucidcentral...
