Nice, Fred!

Well, should've had two seedlings to post. However being I was out of town I missed them. The DW didn't take photos either. Confused

Oh well, there're more buds on the scapes.

Becky, you're really getting some nice seedlings -- love that SSS56! Thumbs up

And more beauties from Fred -- I always get excited when I see that guitar-picking avatar show up here in our Seedlings thread! And now a 12" wingspan -- amazing!

I've been too much in the garden and missing some wonderful seedling pictures.

I like your future intro Becky. Fred, your patterns are to be envied. Joel, that is a great looking first seedling. Are you gardening on a roof by the way?

I am excited ...

While looking closer at some of my seedlings, I noticed what appears to be an instant rebloom on TTT26. That seedling is a good example of what I (personally) wish for in a cultivar. If this plant does well over the next year (maybe two), I think it will be another one that I will register and name. It went from a single fan when I grew it from seed in early Jan. 2017. Here we are about a year and a half later. It now has 8 fans. 5 scapes with a rebloom scape coming up. It has 3 bee pods on it, so it is obviously pod fertile. And is still blooming since it's first bloom on April 8. And I love the color! Apparently so does something else since I have bee or hummingbird pods!

Now I am not a commercial grower or expert grower, so it really doesn't get prime growing conditions. In fact, it is growing in a rectangular container with 4 other seedlings. But the growth has been so impressive that I need to transplant it into my garden as it has already outgrown it's space in the container. I am wondering how it would do in the ground with more room! It is a small bloomer, so it will need a place at the front of my garden since it is not the tallest scape or has the largest foliage.

I am most thrilled because it is one of my own crosses, not one I won on the LA or someone shared with me. (Of which I love all of them!) But it's especially exciting when something I crossed myself turns out really nice, like this one!

I was not expecting the instant rebloom scape. Now the only other questions are .... will it rest and rebloom again later? And will the foliage remain nice (no rust or thrips)? I sure hope so! I am very pleased with this little bloomer!

TTT26 today Lovey dubby :

As a novice breeder who has been growing seedlings for about 7 years (since 2011) and to have 2 seedlings that seem to be worthy of registering is quite a feat for me. I know serious breeders grow hundreds (if not thousands) of seedlings every year hoping to get a few that are registration worthy. I grow maybe 35-40 seedlings a year, since I have limited space. I really never thought I would get any that would be worthy, but I am excited to actually have two! With maybe another handful that I am also watching! Which just goes to prove that growing a seed doesn't necessarily mean it will turn out good enough to actually register and name.

For me, seedlings are the best part of growing daylilies!!! This is the reason I won't ever get bored of growing them. Thumbs up

Thank You! Becky!

I'm happy with this little seedling, but the scape lacks a lot. So far, no branching and only has a terminal v, with only 6 buds. I did transplant it to a Bed last year and almost lost it. It's not taking up any room so I'll hang onto it. I'm hoping it improves next year.

Your TTT26 is wonderful. Lovey dubby

Valarie & Stan - Thank you! It is so hard to get a seedling that has many good traits all in one plant.

More seedlings from today:

This one kinda shocked me. When I first saw it, I was thinking Dragonfly Dawn seedling, but then I looked at the leaves and saw no rust so I had to look up the parentage right away. It is one of my own crosses and is not a seedling of Dragonfly Dawn.

TTT03 (CCC15 x Marilyn Morss Johnson) The CCC15 pod parent is Drink the Light x God Save the Queen. In fact the CCC15 parent has been blooming lately, too! So this seedling is blooming during the same time as it's pod parent.

I am a sucker for pink. And I have been watching all my pink blooming seedlings as I want to be able to register & name one in honor of my sister who is a cancer survivor. So this is another possible consideration! I really like this one a lot. My eye caught sight of it immediately to which I exclaimed "Wow!" & put a big smile on my face. I wasn't expecting this at all.

Stats (look good with no sign of rust yet!):

Bloom (TTT03):

Here is the pedigree of the CCC15 pod parent (which is another seedling of mine):Thumb of 2018-04-29/beckygardener/108b22
CCC15 has great foliage, never seen rust on it.

And a bloom photo of the pod parent CCC15:
Thumb of 2018-04-29/beckygardener/ac09f7

And Marilyn Morss Johnson (pollen parent) was another cultivar that I lost to Hurricane Irma:

I think it had decent foliage. Not as good as CCC15, but certainly not a rust bucket.

MMJ was always this color in the early mornings. Then it later changed to more of a peachy-pink color. I can see the traits from both parents in their child. I gave it a 1.5 on the rust rating because 1 of the leaves had some damage. But I couldn't tell what was the cause.
