Each year for the past three years a growth has emerged on my lawn about this time and lasts for about a week. (please see image)

Can please tell me what it is and how to get rid of it.

Many thanks,

David Rose

Mr. Rose, Hello & Welcome
I'm unable to zoom on your picture so I can't tell if those are small fungi, if they are then you more than likely have a Fairy ring (???).

Hi & welcome! If it's only there for a week, it doesn't seem too bothersome to me. Is it the blooms of whatever kind of grass that is with the larger blades? If so, mowing before the seeds ripen could reduce the number of sprouts next year.

Even if it is only a minor inconvenience, I would still be curious to know what it is. I've never seen it before.

I feel the same way when an unknown plant intrigues me. I'm curious about your week-weed too!

Somebody should recognize. If you can isolate the foliage that goes with the blooms and take a pic of the leaves, that might help.

Excellent suggestion. There's apparently a N. Amer. native, L. multiflora:

Thank you Soopy, that's brilliant.
That's what it seems to be.
Thing is, how do I get rid of it?

Many thanks for all your comments.

The link for L. campestris mentions L. multiflora too. I didn't check where either was native because the link that says L. campestris is common in lawns is from the UK and so is the OP.

TY, Sue! Looks like I got confused in the scrolling up/down & thought the plant was found in CO.
