I think it's BIRDS 🦅 🐦 eating my pumpkin sprouts!! Today there was another sprout. When I got back there was a little disturbed area and it was gone!! No footprints 👣 in or out and they like sunflower seeds and are very smart!!

I need a bird feeder.

Had a bunch at my old house. Don't know what happened to them.

Tomorrow I arm myself by feeding all the birds!!! 😀❤️

I think two feeders. One with sunflower seeds and one with a mix and one hummingbird feeder for the little guys. I'll hang them in the trees or on the porch. That should be distracting!!

I find whole sunflower seeds pretty messy (especially on the porch), but the birds do love them. Lately I've just gone with the bottom shelf 'econo' seed and it all gets eaten. Some birds kick the millet out, but then the ground birds clean it up. Another inexpensive option is chicken scratch, a mix of cracked corn and oats usually.

I was thinking of someplace away from the garden so I wouldn't have constant weeds in there. I was thinking about in the trees. My mourning doves will eat off the ground. You know what? I haven't ever seen any squirrels since I have lived here. Three years. Weird. The backyard would be fun to watch. Big window and veranda thing and then there's a pool to the side. I haven't gardened that up yet. The dogs play and stuff out there. That's where the mourning doves made their three stick nest. I would have to sweep it though like you said. Maybe one in the front and one in the back. Maybe the mix in the front and the sunflower seeds in the back. Boy this is going to be messy lol but I don't care. It's gonna be fun. Especially for the kids. And fun for the birds and may they eat those sunflowers and leave the seedlings alone lol

You have me thinking. I think both in the backyard away from the gardens in the front. They would have privacy and I could watch them, maybe get in on the bird thread lol!! And they could be as messy as they wanted and I could still have my shade gardens under the 🌲 🌳 trees!!

Plus the trees will give them some hiding places from predators. Some birds are much more cautious than others. Put at least one feeder somewhere you can watch from an outdoor seat with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Nothing more relaxing!

Look at the save my garden setup!! They won't even think of my seedlings anymore.










Now my gardening sunflower seeds are my own. Couldn't forget the flying jewels either.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program. Soon I will do another seedling shot. I have a nightmare that Iam really babying weed seeds instead of the ones I planted lol. Now that would be horrible lol.

Love the coffee watching the birds. They get hulled sunflower seeds or a mix. They just have to show up and choose!!

Here is an update photo of the seed bed. Now it is so full it looks like grass!! I hope they keep it up. There may be one wayward sunflower seedling. Not where I would have preferred it to be but hey, anything that grows I am happy. Haven't grown seeds in a long time until now!!!







I like to go back and see how this was a thistle bed and watch how this progressed. I hope you enjoy it too 😀
