I've been growing an avocado tree from seed for a little less than a year. Over the past two months, there have been what looks like smaller avocado plants growing from the same root system.

Is this normal?

I have grown avacado from seed three times (have one going right now), but I have never seen one sprout more than one time, so I am baffled. Are you sure it is avacado and not some other seed that got blown in? Although other fruit trees do grow sprouts at the base, so I guess it is possible. I would pull them out, though, so the tree doesn't put energy into them.

I have one that I thought sprouted a second shoot , but it was actually connected to the main trunk I could see as it grew

I'm sure it's not another type, I've grown it indoors and recently moved to a place with a screened in patio (which explains the brown on the leaves, I didn't acclimate it properly). It's so odd to me that it took these little ones so long to grow.

I'm sure the three seedling is not avocadoes. They are seedling from different plant that somehow happens to deposited in the soil.

I live in the region those grow.. but I didn't have any by my house. So I guess it could be possible.

It just blows my mind because I have never left it outside. It has always been an indoor plant
