Thread OP
Los Angeles, CA
Hey green-thumbers,

I'm new to the plant world and have a selection of patio plants that are thriving! With the exception of a very sad gardenia plant! Pictures attached. It was told to put the plant in "bright shade" by the plant store. About two-weeks upon having the plant - it started to harden and leaves turning yellow and falling off. Upon research, I found forums that said the plant wants "Direct Light" when in Southern California, (I'm in Los Angeles). The leaves are hardening and dying quickly.

I've sprayed dish-washing/water mixer for spider mites (but I question if that's the problem). I've re-planted with new soil.

Any help? I predict this gardenia plant is on it's last leg.
