I went to a cactus sale yesterday afternoon, spur of the moment, after much bargaining and haggling I made two big scores on some rare cactus, that I've been wanting for some time. These are not very big plants, the monstrose is about 12 inches, and the Azureus is just 6 inches, but I love their wonderful blue color. They are native to Brazil, and can be difficult to get. Love that second one, the shape is great. I can see where it got it's name. The color is fabulous too. A day without sunshine is like, you know, night. |

Chris, welcome to my world. I'm in zone 6. I can't imagine what to do in zone 4. Even a green house would be expensive to operate. I guess we just fill up our window space. Stush |

Alan, Any places for sale in your area? Some place close so I can sneak in at night and take some samples. ![]() |

Alan, I was down Clearwater Florida this past November. (where the cactus seeds came form) and there are places going for as little as $500 nicely furnished. The lease on the lot is $5000 a year. Still very affordable for us. That includs the club house with heated pool. I would love to live there as my friend does but not when the grandkids are all up here in the frozen north. They live there 6 to 8 months a year then return here in summer. Nice. They invite us every year to come down for a week or so. Stush |
