First time I'm growing my own canna's from seeds I got from my own canna, I started 6 of them on the 14th and on the 17th two of the 6 broke ground. I have them under grow lights and I'm just curious as to how you folks think they are doing? Id like to keep them alive so any advice will be greatly appreciated :>)

They look fine to me. I've grown them from seed and the babies weren't very temperamental even with some neglect at times. They didn't stay inside very long though. I always worry about damping off on seedlings of any kind when they are indoors. I've never used grow lights, but that should be a good option for canna seedlings, I would think.

Did you scratch the seed surface before planting them? That was a chore! I finally used pliers and a grinder wheel. 100% germination on those Smiling . They were ugly, but some are still hanging around anyway.

Thank you Lin Smiling
Donald, I used a old pair of toe nail clippers and held them with a pliers, I worry about damping off too, we had snow the other day Angry it is supposed to start warming up next week, I have a screened in porch so I'll start moving them outside gradually before I move them into their permanent pot. Thank You

Well here they are 3 months later, nothing like the momma, she had purple leaves and vivid red flowers, but I think this is pretty with the salmon color flowers, I like the color Thumbs up
