Yesterday morning I received an email from APS that invites APS members to nominate 2018 American Peony Society Gold Medal Winner. To nominate, simply send an email to southernpeony (I think it is Adriana) at
southernpeony@live.com, with the subject line "2018 APS Gold Medal Nominations".
Here is the major points of the email:
"The American Peony Society, by way of awarding medals and certificates, has long recognized exceptional peonies. In this scheme of things the Gold Medal has always been considered the ultimate accolade. The criteria for recent years was written to emphasize qualities important to most of the peony growing public, which included availability, dependable performance, the absence of the need for mechanical support, good plant habit and good foliage throughout the growing season and reasonably priced in relation to its variety and originator."
Who can make Nominations?
All APS Members are eligible to enter nominations for the APS Gold Medal award. APS Members are asked to consider the the qualities listed above when making their nominations for the award.
How is the winner decided?
The American Peony Society Board of Directors vote on the nominated list of peonies at the APS Board Member meeting. The APS Gold Medal winner will be announced at the 2018 APS Convention Banquet.
