Seemed to form in clumps and then grew together. Full Sun. Almost covering my lawn now. It's in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I want to get rid of it. Sprayed some "Weed-B-Gone" on it a couple of weeks ago but it doesn't seem to have worked very well (didn't work on some clover I sprayed it on either) -- but it's been kind of cold ... might need more time to work or something. I seem to recall it starting to get worse in January or February. I haven't noticed any flowers on it yet. It seems to grow fairly low - never gets much higher than this. I accidentally included the tips of my shoes in one pic but that might help see how high it grows. You should be able to zoom these pics fairly well (I put down a dime for perspective.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I must admit that I cannot see the image clearly enough (blame it on my eyes, not your image). It might be Lawn Burweed aka Soliva pterosperma. Sunset Zone 28, AHS Heat Zone 9, USDA zone 8b~"Leaf of Faith" |

I'll take a guess: Lawn burweed (Soliva sessilis)? |

Evil will know too if he gives it another couple of weeks, takes off his shoes and tries walking barefooted in it. ![]() Believe in yourself even when no one else will. ~ Sasquatch |

Thanks so much for the replies. I appreciate it. I thought it was very similar to the burweed we had last year in terms of how it started in clumps. However, I haven't seen any burrs so far. The leaves look different (these are short and fat and the burweed had long/thin leaves.) Also, last year I put out Weed-B-Gone on the burweed and it killed it in about 20 days or so. This year I put it out April 12th (about 10 days ago -- so maybe I'm being impatient.) Note: I just checked and last year I did the application of Weed-B-Gone in mid May so it was much warmer. I'll wait a week or two and try to remember to come back and post if I start to see burrs. Thanks Again!! ![]() |
