Hi, I was trying to grow basil from seeds I own. Unfortunately only one plant of basil is popping out of the soil, but there is a lot of an other plant I can't recognize. Can someone help me recognizing what this is? Thanks ![]() ![]() |

It does resemble Common Purslane (Portulaca oleracea) More images on this Flora of Israel page: http://flora.org.il/en/books/p... ~ I'm an old gal who still loves playing in the dirt! ~ Playing in the dirt is my therapy ... and I'm in therapy a lot! |

P. olearacea is not considered a weed in most places, it's edible. The sprouts could also be P. umbraticola, a nearly identical plant but with blooms large enough to be considered ornamental. Sold in US as ornamental purslane or "other moss roses." Purslane (Portulaca umbraticola) 👀😁😂 - SMILE! -☺😎☻☮👌✌∞☯🐣🐦🐔🐝🍯🐾 The less I interfere, the more balance mother nature provides. 👒🎄👣🏡🍃🍂🌾🌿🍁❦❧ 🍃🍁🍂🌾🌻🌸🌼🌹🌽❀☀🌺 ☕👓 The only way to succeed is to try. |

true, weed is very subjective term and also regional ![]() So, depending on how this space was used before, one of the purslanes may have been growing there before, and left its seed . . . (while I wa -as sleeping..) i'm pretty OK today, how are you? ;^) |

An unwanted plant is a weed. |
