I hope the storms don't finish off a lot of your blooms, Arlyn. I was a short season and losing blooms to the weather is not a happy thing.

Arlyn ~ We are still looking forward to seeing more from your garden. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Get your camera ready for the warm sunny days before they are gone! My gosh, didn't yours just start blooming? Oh yeah, winter to summer! Not fair! Sticking tongue out

Like Leon, I'm finding it harder and harder to get all my "daily chores" done, and I'm thinking that my days of taking...and posting...pictures of almost every bloom are about over! Here's a few, from yesterday, that I needed to record, as well as some "bed shots" of the areas along the streets:

Arlyn ~ WOW! Your gardens are beautiful! Lovey dubby

My Florentina just opened up a couple of days ago.
Thumb of 2018-05-11/evelyninthegarden/851a77

Florentina's beauty is so subtle. I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would.

Originally I had thought to use the rhizomes for orris root. Maybe when they grow up and get overcrowded.

If bloom time did not occur when so many other things had to be done in the garden it would be much easier. And I have started wearing my apron with all my tools and camera in it during garden tours. If i find weeds i pull them, if i see a newly opened iris i take its photo, if i see a bloomstalk that needs cutting i cut it..... Smiling Sometimes it makes for longer conversations but I work while the weather and my old bones allow. As for posting photos I told myself that same thing. Too tired at the end of the day to post but i managed....... this year anyway. Smiling

Love your garden shots Arlyn... and your irises. Big Grin Thumbs up

SDB 'Vavoom'
Really small first flower.
Thumb of 2018-05-12/BlueFlagFan/00a82c

And the next 4 are firsts for me. Hurray!

MDB 'Bugsy'
Thumb of 2018-05-12/BlueFlagFan/127df8

SDB 'Skimbleshanks'
I love it! But so very similar to 'Buster'

SDB 'Alamo Joe'
Thanks Tom! Another beauty.
Thumb of 2018-05-12/BlueFlagFan/5f0941

And this one... a four-fer! Tom, @tveguy3, do you recognize this one? I had it recorded as 'Pokemon' from you. It's definitely not 'Pokemon', and maybe it's not even from you! It sure is nice and I'm happy to have it.

Woops! that would be Irish Halo, it will have an extra appendage once in a while. Sorry, will have to fix that mix up this summer.

'Irish Halo'! Thanks for the ID and the plant. Smiling The name is appropriate, especially for an iris that tends to have 4 appendages regularly... reminds me of a four-leaf clover. I was surprised to see it listed as an amoena; the standards don't appear pure white to me. Thanks again!

Here is my block of that NOID. Any thoughts on ID would be appreciated. It stands 12-16" tall.

I received this iris from a friend or family member before I began to keep records. The closest ID I can suggest is SDB 'Blue Ace' (Rosenfels 1963). 'Blue Ace' is described as a violet-blue self. The color is hard to capture; do you think this would be considered a "violet-blue" 50 years ago? Here is a shot from my cell phone camera that shows it more violet:
Thumb of 2018-05-15/BlueFlagFan/ffa1e1

Interestingly...
There is only one picture of 'Blue Ace' in AIS's encyclopedia, from the Wisconsin Iris Society.
http://wiki.irises.org/Sdb/Sdb...

Also, there is only one picture of 'Blue Ace' in HIPS' gallery, from a gentleman that runs the "Brighton Park Iris" webpage/blog. He is from Chicago and I think still lives in the area.
https://www.historiciris.org/l...

So if 'Blue Ace' exists is gardens, it is likely in my region. I may never know it's true identity, but it's fun to sleuth! Big Grin

New SDB blooms are winding down. Only one SDB remains to open for me. For this year, 28 of my 30 SDBs will bloom; I think that's darn good! 'Whydidi' and 'Inner Voices' will be the two hold-outs.

SDB 'Bluebeard's Ghost'
Thanks Bonnie! Such great form. I love it!
