Another thing I'm going crazy trying to identify...also I'd like to know what people recommend for plant identification sites that are ONLINE, NOT SMARTPHONE that can identify plants by leaf characteristics that are not necessarily in flowering stage including any type (tree, vine, herb, flowering, etc.)...I have gone crazy trying to find one that meets these requirements...

Anyway, a hairy climbing vine I'm trying to identify to trash or treasure!

Thanks!!!

Are those thorns along the stems? Does it lose it leaves in winter? Have you seen blooms?

I don't think Hops is right but it does look very familar.

I THINK that it's something besides hops, the leaves are more deeply lobed I believe...no thorns but hairs, perennial, I have seen no flowers, deciduous...

I would think it is a Rubus, but I have no idea how to sort the species.

I was hoping, like the poster, that someone was going to suggest ID sites...

This is my fav. W/o flowers &/or berries, picking a species seems like a daunting guessing game. So many choices. There are tons of entries & pics in them on the database here:

Looks like a Rubus to me too. Not sure which one but kinda reminds me of a Salmonberry.

Well thank you all for the input!!! I guess that I'll just give it a little support and see what it does!

Will update if I figure out what it is...

Whenever it blooms, adding some pics of the flowers (front, back) could help. After blooms, berries should form. Some Rubus bloom on last years' stems, some on new stems.

Seems like there is still a great chance that this is a hops, downward pointing hairs/tiny spine, opposite palmate leaves, splitting interpetiolar stipule.
it could be a Humulus americanus, Humulus lupulus var. neomexicanus, or other hops relatives
is there any Rubus with opposite leaves arrangement?..

Excellent question. I don't know the answer w/o investigating. Your comment made me look @ the pic again & I can't tell the arrangement. It looks alternate at the top, but opposite closer to the bottom. I'm at a loss being completely unfamiliar with hops vines.

A little better photo, has pairs of lobed leaves, I don't think a dewberry...it's growing like a weed, starting to think it is one!

It really makes me think of a berry plant/vine. I hope someone recognizes it.
