Hi all
I received my lady of shallot potted rose yesterday
There is a straw packing like mulch over the root ball and it has gorgeous leaves It had growth about 8 inches over the root ball
So I dug the hole and planted it but as instructed I did not place the rootball 2 inches below soil level because it did not want to cover the top growth which looked strong to me I'm in NY
My question to all of you experts is
Should I have buried the rootball 2 to 3" below soil level
And if yes shall I dig it out and redo everything which I would hate because I do not want to hurt the plant if you know what I mean
What should I do with the straw mulch

The rose should be fine as long as everything below the crown is buried.
