Man, I am going to have to try growing more miniatures Ursula, you inspire me to buy, buy, buy!!! Thanks for the new thread. I forgot all about May 1st. Rodney Wilcox Jones, my idol! Businessman, Orchid grower, hybridizer, lived to 107! |
Bill, I have a bunch of these mini species clustered together and just flood them daily with rain water, many seem to like that. I gave up on Masdevallias and other cool growing Pleurothallids, because I grow in Summer outside and a NJ Summer is just too hot for them. |

Wow! What a blizzard of blooms on your skinneri, Ursula! Is that one fragrant? This just opened for me yesterday. I got it from a club member that was downsizing her collection, and this is its first bloom. C. Dal's Moon X C. Garrett Collins ![]() It doesn't look much like the images I've found online, and I'm more than a little concerned about the unsymmetrical dark purple bit on the lip. What do you guys think? lindsey |

I understand that uniformity might be nice but the possible unpredictability of the darker purple is kind of cool too! Might be either temperature or light intensity controlled. But the fact that it may change with every blooming is special in my mind. I like it a lot!! ![]() Rodney Wilcox Jones, my idol! Businessman, Orchid grower, hybridizer, lived to 107! |

We were off to a fabulous start until I dropped the ball. I've been watching this orchid open for the last few days and went out to take the pictures today. There's no tag. I just can't believe it. Jim I think that your plant might be Cattleya peckhaviensis, a hybrid of Cattleya aclandiae X Cattleya schilleriana. I have had three or four of them bloom and they look just like yours. All three of mine had the same white side lobes to the lip. This was one of mine. Rodney Wilcox Jones, my idol! Businessman, Orchid grower, hybridizer, lived to 107! |

![]() Leptotes bicolor still not fully opened but from 80 last week to 60s this week and cloudy, the first blooms will probably be done by the time the rest open. |
Oh this is nice!! I sure love this one too Carol! ![]() |

Thanks guys, but I think Ursula's looked better. This yo- yo weather is tough on my orchids. |
BigBill May 2, 2018 3:15 PM CST |
It may have. However your plant is absolutely full of flowers! How can one expect to do better than plant = lots of flowers?? ![]() Rodney Wilcox Jones, my idol! Businessman, Orchid grower, hybridizer, lived to 107! |

After some research, I think I will take Bill's suggestion and dub my NOID Cattleya C. Peckhaviensis. Thanks Judge Bill! Jim "Advertising may be described as the science of arresting the human intelligence long enough to get money from it." -- Steven Leacock |
