Hi! I appreciate any help in identifying this plant which is taking over my lawn. I'm in Upstate NY, first spring here so not sure whether it's a perennial. Do you recommend I try to kill it?

Thank you.

Hi renifer, Welcome!

My first thought is that it reminds me of Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans) but I'm not real sure. Hopefully others will be along shortly and be able to identify it.

It is Ajuga, lovely spires of blue flowers appear which attract the bees. Personally I would keep it and enjoy the beneficial insects which will be visiting.

Thank you plantladylin, Ruud, and Yorkshirelass! Thank You! This is really helpful. I'd love to keep them but I will have to, eventually, mow the grass Sighing! .

Ajuga won't mind being mowed along with the grass.
